Hi Linda, I just wanted to thank you for your kind comments on my 6-6's.

We do maintain a time requirement: 3-5 minutes depending on how many people sign-up to read. Last month we had 61 participants and 40 readers. I enjoy getting to hear the diversity and styles. HRW wants to promote literacy for all ages and because we have children that read and/or listen, our theme for every OM (open mic) is "family" - meaning our topics are safe for little ears to hear - although there have been a couple of times when that theme was breached - not horribly, but I'm sure there was some, how do you say, lively conversation and explaining for parents afterward (i.e. Spanky the clown at the Ringling Brothers & BBC who was a child molester). We do let children read first since they normally get restless and are unable to sit for 2 1/2 hours of "boring adults being long winded" (said through the eyes/mind of a child). Letting them read first normally lends itself to them leaving early to get to bed on time and it has been helpful in avoiding some of the more edgier pieces that surface later in the evening.

Yes we need material & I would love to read for you way over here in Virginia Beach. We are working out the details to find a way to best benefit everyone - we definitely want a bio on the author and we're open to any suggestions. We thought we would film it and put it on youtube so it would afford everyone involved (you, your work, 6S, and any writing groups) the chance to have more visibility and press. I know our PR team with HRW (hamptonroadswriters.org) can have an article in the paper about how we have authors from across the U.S. participating in our Open Mic Night's (OMN). Richard Johnson is interested and he is a member of Story Salon. They sound like an interesting group - someone we here on the EC could learn a lot from. I'd love to hear your suggestions.

Hi Linda - I'm new to the 6S ning group and I was poking around and I saw your smiling face. Also I noticed you have tremendous success with the flash fiction - Congratulations! - something I have just become interested in. I write non-fiction but want to be skilled in fiction. Small bites are better for me - I was published in 6S V1. Anything larger and it screams novice :) So I thought flash would be an easily accessible step/goal. We'll see....

Thanks for accepting me as a friend (virtually, at least) and thanks for your kind comment.

Hope your day is as amazing as you want it to be...

Hey, Linda - that Tiki was outside of Trader Vic's restaurant here in Chicago......Chicago...where right now we are stuck in perpetual fall....cold, blustery and grey.

i don't like it this way.

Hi Linda-
The Jersey Shore probably hasn't changed much - except everyone is considerably younger (or I'm much older). BTW - loved CHANGE MANAGEMENT. An excellent/well-written story! Hope to see more!

I'm going to London!!

My story, Wrongful Life, won an honourable mention in the Momaya Press Short Story Competition:
www.momayapress.com
So I'm off to England in a few months to attend the awards party and to pick up a copy of their Annual Review. Whoo-hoo, my story will be in there...
Does anyone have any tips for traveling to London in November?
