My Sunday house of worship is out at the ranch on the rim of Palo Duro Canyon. Somehow, whether out there for work or pleasure on a Sunday morning, I always feel closer to "God" than anywhere else. Very beautiful words you pen.

A well-written tear jerker. So sad if true, thanks for sharing. And I agree with Cita, fact and fiction mix, sometimes in the middle and sometimes on the edge.

Thanks for your lovely comment on my Feathers post. No way to get a tan before wearing a cocktail dress if you are punching cows for the week prior. Oh, well! (Molly is appalled at my lack of shopping skills... she is my style guru.)

About Me:
I've been a cowboy, computer programmer, graphic designer and a truck driver. I'm also a person with a very active mind and imagination. My wife says that I have a unnerving ability for my "train" to "switch tracks", often conversing about many things almost simultaneously. A good friend of mine who posts here on 6 suggested that I start writing my ramblings. All aboard, hang on, we're jumping tracks again!

Flyjacked!!

I had dropped a shipment of feed off at a dairy in West Texas and about 10 flies managed to sneak their way into the cab and wanted a lift - Stinking hitchhikers! So they bummed a ride with me to Lubbock, didn't get out there, instead they continued on to Portales, N.M with me. At the feedyard in Portales some New Mexico flies hopped on board too and the next thing I know I have Tex Mex flies in the cab. I cracked the windows a bit and tried to shoo them out but one big Mexican fly told me that… Continue

What So Proudly He Hails!

I was passing through Clovis yesterday on a busy street when I saw what appeared to be a small child standing on the corner waving at cars as they drove by, but he was doing something else and I couldn't make out what it was.

Just as I was to pass by him, the kid flashed a huge grin, waved his right hand in greeting and with his other hand waved his wanker real big too!

I burst out laughing and the first thought in my mind was that one day that kid would be a huge success.

A success you say,… Continue

The Long Walk

The young, untried rookie pitcher has given up a hit, walked one and is in a 3 balls/1 strike hole, staring at the batter, sweating it out as he watches the bottom of the inning get away from him just as his pitches have done, each throw farther from the strikezone than the previous.

The young, untried rookie pitcher stands on the mound and looks 60 feet across the grass to the dugout, toward the coaches, looking across the 60 feet for some reassurance and support, fear rising up in the back of… Continue

Play Ball

The lush green grass is mowed, the infield raked and the lines chalked at the two young teams line up on the field, remove their hats and sing America's song at the start of America's game as Old Glory flies proudly in the warm, gentle breeze.

The mothers fidget in the stands worrying about their child's safety as the dads pace the chain link fence shouting last minute advice and reminders of "Listen to your coach".

The coaches pace the grass in front of the dugouts wondering if they have the… Continue

Five People

One lazy weekend afternoon I plowed through Mitch Albom's book "Five People You Meet In Heaven" and for five nights thereafter I had strange dreams about Heaven in which people who have passed through my life reappeared, leading me to jump out of bed each morning and jot their names down on a piece of paper before the name and the person melted back into the past as soon as the dream was forgotten.

Theresa Neidenhofer - I'll always remember the beautiful college girl who met a 14 year old cowbo… Continue
