Ah there it is. The oh-so-familiar original avatar. You know dad, you had an avatar before having an avatar was cool!

Hey Dick! A little bird told me you were lookin' for me... Yep, it's true I'm in Woodland. It was quite a shock to find "Daniel from China" was actually "Daniel from Woodland". I would love to get together for coffee sometime and meet face to face. You can tell me more of your war stories! My number is 662-6298.

Send Chris and email through six sentences. We wrote the Zeppelin thing in turns, I wrote the first and fourth sentence. We write our part and email it, Kate did spruce it up a bit, like so many other things she's good at it. I miss Mom too. She'll be in my "Chasing Swallows" book. Remember the piece I wrote when I came to visit? The one about her favorite seat in the house? I'll include that in the book. A fitting tribute. Darren will also be memorialized. Glad to see you getting involved here Dad, write more stuff!

Road Trip

Earlier this month, Bobbye and I were parked along Monterrey's 17 Mile Drive, admiring the famous "Lone Cypress".
As I was focusing my Nikon, a shiny red convertible pulled in, a pair of young blonde ladies in thier bikinis clambered out without opening the doors, oohing and aahing over the view.
One of them approached me,"Sir, could you take our picture?, handing me their camera.
I jokingly asked if this was a "Thelma & Louise" road trip, or what, as I snapped several shots of them in all t… Continue

Enchanted evening

Some of you 6'ers will remember my tales of my Bobbye from years past, well in May she flew out to California from Utica for a reunion.
On the last evening of her visit, we were sitting on the couch, snuggling a little, when the TV announced that a presidential news conference was about to take place. Too engrossed in what we were doing we let it run, when a young reporter asked the Pres," What do you find enchanting about your new job?"
We laughed about the lame question, and went about our far… Continue

"Hi, it's Barb."

"Where are you?"

"At the Depot."

"Be right there."

And I would.

If she was.

Life in Berkeley East

Whenever I stop in the Borders store in downtown Davis, (home to the University of California Aggies), I usually go straight to the computer station to find the location in the store of the title I'm seeking.
Imagine my surprise (or not), to find the book in question (Mark Levin's latest, sub-titled "a Conservative Manifesto", as Not in Stock.
Questioning a stock clerk, she spoke into her intercom, excused herself, and disappeared into the back room, emerging with a copy.
At the check-out, jokin… Continue

Faking it

Got an e-mail from Daniel, "Go ahead Dad, just fake it, it's easy to six".
I'm sure as hell not a writer, I don't have the imagination to make up stories, nor the ability to make 'em readable.
The neighbors kinda' agreed with Dan, they said "you tell jokes, and you remember the punch lines, go for it".
Thinking it over, sitting at the keyboard, the memories started to flow, and words appeared; Not too bad!!
I stood by the big picture window, gazing out at the manicured lawn, and the spring bloss… Continue
