The smell of the fresh cut tree that we had drug back to the truck and driven home with, is now filling our home, bringing in the holiday spirit.

The snowflakes falling outside our window remind us of how lucky we are to warm ourselves by the fire as we string lights around each branch bringing our Charlie Brown tree to life.

Plug in the lights and watch as our children’s eyes grow large with awe, as they think now about Santa.

The snowman we made this morning stares into the window with his… Continue

War and Peace

It was early spring, and she needed to take a walk. Her thoughts took over and as she wiped the tears from her face she wondered what havoc the world would wreak on her next. She found herself standing next to the pond near the park. She allowed the sun to warm her cheeks. She found peace as she watched the ducks landing and taking flight, lightly skimming the water. A laugh even escaped her lips, as she watched the ducks splashing water on each other with their fragrantly colored wings.

The Devil's Challenge - Deals (Part 3)

Continued from: The Devil's Challenge - Deals (Part 2)

Sam felt the air pushed out of his chest and a burning sensation on his face when the airbag exploded upon impact. Sam wondered where the truck had come from as he laid there trying to catch his breath and assess the situation around him. He leaned his head to the right and noticed that where Ellen had been sitting she was no longer there,… Continue

I read your story last night about the little prince, born and died on the same day, and it so moved me and I felt such sympathy for you. Then, I read the comments and thought, 'Wait, this is fiction?' I couldn't believe it hadn't happened to you or at least to someone close to you. And you said in response something about it being crap-fastic...CJI, if the purpose of fiction is to lead us into an experience that moves us either for good or bad, engenders empathy, makes us feel as we are there with the characters, (and yes, absorbs and entertains us) you achieved all...often I catch myself responding to the stories here as if they are true which I suppose means I underestimate either the talent or the power of words...amazing.....

CJT- Thanks for LYAO. In the meantime, keep writing that winsome prose of yours. The songs, the pictures, the shadows of writers gone by all read like images of a nearly forgotten past and those "roads not taken." Nice job. -Dude

I'm not one to challenge. More of a collaborator. I'd love it from your side, but I didn't want to write without permission
