"I suppose I should be ashamed to admit it, but where this works indirectly is that sometimes, a movie, or tv programme inspires you to go out and read the book/story it was based on.  (Always the best way I think, if you read the book/story…"

"honestly, I can't think of any film that has inspired me to write. Film watching seems to be a much more passive activity than reading, and the feeling for language you get in a well written book is replaced by a feeling for pictures in a well…"

Have any movies inspired you to write?

We all know that many movies are based on or inspired by short stories and novels, but how often is the reverse true? Occasionally movies will insire me to write. "The Matrix" (the 1st - I thought 2 and 3 were crap!) and recently "In Time" have inspired me to write some interesting stories set in their respective worlds. "In Time" wasn't a great movie, but I felt the premise lead to any number of great shorts!Have there been any movies that have inspired any of you to write?See More

Wayne (A wanna-be superhero with an unhelpful power - 6.1)

This round of auditions for the Super Hero League was finally over and Kent and Wayne sighed with relief as they folded the plastic audition table… they had seen some strange wanna-be’s this time around: Krispie, Marshmallow, Keepsake, Goosebumps; ALL wonderfully odd individuals with some pretty unhelpful powers.

“You know Wayne, you never told me what your power is.”, Kent said as he shook his partner’s hand.

Wayne laughed and said, “Well… I can turn invisible, but I have to…

Awakened

SNAP!

I'm jerked awake by the sound, my heart beating a million miles an hour. A thousand thoughts race through my mind at about the same speed as the adrenaline coarsing through my veins, causing my hands to shake... is someone breaking in... is someone stealing my car... but I dismiss these thoughts quickly because nothing I own is worth shit. Who the hell breaks in these days to steal a VCR, or an old TV that weighs more than I do, or a car that's worth more when the gas tank is…

Mahatma Gandhi

Mahatma Gandhi, born in 1869 and died in 1948, is known as the father of the India independence movement, but there are some facts about him that few realize. Gandhi didn’t wear shoes, which was incredibly rough on his feet. He didn’t eat much, so he wasn’t very strong physically. What he did eat was strange (at least to us) and gave him incredibly bad breath. While you may have known about his political career, you probably didn’t know that he was…

Brian, I'm not a Zombie fan, but I'm hooked.  I think the kid is not used to writing and has to jot things down quickly since he is on the run.
