I got an email yesterday morning from the editor of The Drabbler, a science fiction publication from Sam's Dot Publishing in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The editor (who calls herself The Boortean Ambassador) informed me that my drabble short story was accepted for publication in The Drabbler #14 - When Genetic Experiments Go Awry. My story is entitled "Tyrannosaurus Pecks." The issue is slated for release in July.

Adam J. Whitlatch Mentioned on The Funky Werepig Show

Posted on June 1, 2009 at 12:12pm 0 Comments

I received a wonderful surprise last night when I tuned in to The Funky Werepig radio show on Blog Talk Radio. The guest of the night was my good friend and editor of Shroud Publishing (Northern Haunts & Shroud Magazine) Tim Deal.

As for the surprise, Tim mentioned me at the 43:14 mark. He said some wonderful things, apologized profusely for misspelling my name in the first printing of… Continue

R.I.P. Steven Sumner 1975-2009

Posted on May 15, 2009 at 9:30am 2 Comments

I wish I were writing today under happier circumstances, but unfortunately the inevitable has happened. Many of you know Libby Sumner. Libby's husband, Steven Sumner, passed away yesterday afternoon. He was 34 years old. As many of you know, Steven had been fighting diabetes most of his life, as well as several other illnesses in the past few years.

Many of you have heard me talk about "The Weller", but some of you still don't know what it is. Well, the big day has finally arrived. Crossed Genres Issue 6 is now available in print, PDF, and Kindle e-Reader formats.

Crossed Genres is a magazine that challenges writers to blend science fiction with a new theme every month. The theme of issue 6 is "Western." Being a post-apocalyptic western, the adventures of the Weller were a… Continue

Yes, looking forward to the book. I love horror. Your birthday is tomorrow? No kidding? Mine is on Saturday. Except I really do feel old ~ freaking 31. Forty is looking WAY to close.

One of my brother's is 28. I really miss him. You remind me of him in some weird way. ;)

Hope your day is special tomorrow...this year is going to be a great year for you writing wise. ~Jodi

Hi Adam,
How have you been? I'm listening to 'Don't Fear the Reaper' on your site right now. Have you heard HIM's version of it? I love it.

Just wanted you to know I finally ordered that book. Northern Haunts. I'll let you know what I think when it gets here.

Hope you are well ~Jodi

I actually haven't read Hamilton's stuff. I read one Anne Rice book which was ok and Twilight (afterwards I kinda wanted to puke- no offense if you like the book). Dracula is one of my most favorite books of all time, so other vampire stories, with the exception of Salem's Lot and a shortstory called Mrs. Amsworth by E.F Benson, have to be pretty damn good for me to like. I bet I'd like yours though. You have a creepy way of thinking things out. :) That's a compliment for the horror writer.

A total rewrite of a novel? Man, I don't even want to imagine that. I get frustrated rewriting a couple thousand words!

How am I? I've been writing and revising like a maniac. A couple editor requested rewrites turned in, waiting for a response (hate waiting). Trying to write poetry (I hear it improves the story writing process) but I don't know - it's kinda kicking my arse.

What kind of Vampire novel? I"m assuming you don't have any mc named Edward. :)

Well, glad to have met you. Keep me posted as you get stories sold! If you ever want to discuss anything about writing whether shorts or novels, plots or character or whatever...feel free to contact me. I am determined to get some good short story sales and sell a novel within the next 2-3 years. Sounds like you are determined also. We are all pulling on the same team. So glad to help out anyway I can. Maybe you can give me good advice about writing novels. I'm looking at jan - feb to start (moving to a new house and want to wait until that is off my mind). I know exactly how I want to write the story but 60 k + words terrifies me!
