That our Monopoly money was bloodstained should not be taken as an indication that we were an overly competitive family. While I disliked the game intensely I did realise that it was part of the Christmas tradition - as was the large tin of Cadbury's 'Roses' - so I generally started the game with only a token complaint, mostly, if you'll forgive the pun, at being forced to take the iron.
