The 6S Social Network

What can YOU say in six sentences?

In lieu of recent events, many members lost most of their comments on their own posts by other members or lost entire pieces of work all together.
I was lucky enough to discover that my favorite body of work had been deleted all together, and also lucky enough to have printed it off the day after I wrote, and several comments were saved.

SO THE QUESTION: Do we "re-ad" a comment by another member under our own name so as to preserve it if another glitch hits the site?

Example :Jim smith posted "good job" as a comment on Alisa's piece. I would then add my own comment "Jim Smith: good job"...now the comment is in my name and not his, but both show. This way if either of us gets glitched the comment remains. HOWEVER it will mean that every post will have double the amounts of comments.

I know it will be alot of work for most of us...is this Tacky or Considerate? Or is it too much of a bother?

well, considering that unless someone continues to issue more little emails to flit about members here, asking for someone to be shunned, ignored, and with the suggestion people file complaints... because they have a personal issue, i can't see anyone being banned.

can you?

I didn't get banned. My piece was lost to a glitch that had several banned members comments on them.
So yes, I can see it.

i forgot about the glitches... they do cause problems.

so, based on the glitch factor--be careful how you say that--i think it's fine.

Alisa, I think the smart thing to do would be to copy and paste your story and comments and then update it every 24 hours or so. That way, you can keep the comments safe so if there are glitches, you are prepared.

Sometimes the "lost" comment is necessary in order to understand the context of the comments that follow (which refer to that one). I would send the "lost" comment back to the owner and ask her/him to re-post it under a particular piece of writing under his/her own name.

Yes I agree with that. But can you imagine how hard it would be for those writers to recomment? Some comment on hundreds of posts a month!

Banning is one thing - all sites have that provision. Total erasure is/should be a measure of last resort. With some limited understanding of what led to this, it seems a bit high-handed and censorious.

I think it's up to the writer. How much time do you have? Do you feel sad that all the friends on 6S took time to respond and now it's not visible? It's tough to catch up and continue to do your regular work each day. I for one would understand if you felt you couldn't catch up, because of todays load of real life and trying to fit in your creative style of life . You are still my hero for trying. But don't let it get in your way of writing. That come first.
