Has anyone received or participated in an MFA in Creative Writing program online?

I am beginning some research and was wondering which programs are reputable.

Wish I could help you. Good Luck.
I just have a rule of thumb with regard to those classes: if they don't stress the necessity of grasping the fundamentals--grammar, sentence structure, and all that good stuff--as well as fostering creativity, they're not worth two flies fucking and avoid them as you would the bubonic plague.
I hear all kind of Lit Class stalwarts talking about creativity being a matter "breaking the rules." That is the sheerest ignorant hogwash. You have to know the rules, and know 'em well, to even begin to think about breaking 'em.
Avoid the presumption and you will soar with the eagles.
Thanks, everyone. I am still weighing some options. I am not really sure if I want to pursue another Masters yet or not. I may just focus on work (and freelancing).
How about the Master's program at Trinity College Ireland! I know it may seem like a long way to go; but this is a really good masters program and you get to live in Dublin Ireland for a year. I'm planning on applying myself in, say, six years; when I finally finish my bachelors. Here is a link if you're interested.

And don't let nay sayer's get you down. You may not need a master degree to write, but some very successful writers have master's degrees; to name a few, Margaret Atwood, Toni Morrison, David Foster Wallace and Ursula K. Le Guin.
Thanks, Jamie! I wish I could, but I have a great job here, and I am married to a husband with a great job here. My stepson also lives in the states, so we can't move that far. I appreciate the advice though! I have a Masters in curriculum, and I am just thinking of expanding my repertoire. :)

I think doing an MFA in Creative Writing is a good project for those who want to teach creative writing and secure a job when there are vacancies in some universities. But if someone wants to write and feels that he/she has to sharpen his/her creative talents the only gateway is reading and writing. Besides, we all know that the best writers in the world read more than they write.

Thanks! I think I am going to end up getting my doctorate eventually. :)

some colleges have correspondence based and you only have to actually hit campus one or twice a year.

Vermont College of Fine Arts has a ten day residency program.

Thank you!

anytime. :)

I don't have an MFA but a woman in my critique group did a low residency program at Bennington College and loved it.  She work very hard, though, while holding a full time job and with a husband and kids.
