What can YOU say in six sentences?
Tumblr is a fun way to enjoy bits and pieces of this and that. It can be tricky to give proper attribution, as posts tend to be reblogged over and over by different users. I came across this piece - I'm assuming it was written by a young woman - and thought it might make for an interesting discussion. (It's sort of six sentences too, which pushed me to post it here.) See what you think...

I think we are all on a continuum of behaviors. These 6 categories are a bit simplistic because within a single category behavior changes depending on circumstances.

I don't consider them distinct personalities more different facets of me. In real life I have many different facets and identities too. Mother, sister, partner, friend, creator - you get the picture.
Permalink Reply by Angela on December 20, 2011 at 8:48pm We all have unique ways of relating to and interacting with the individuals we know. All those individuals are not all together all the time. So, it stands to reason that the adjustments we make to accommodate settings and situations would make us "act" differently. Really, I think everyone has a set of personalities - but that does not make any of them false.

Permalink Reply by Brittany on December 21, 2011 at 5:09am When you feel comfortable in your own skin you stop trying on what you think will be appealing to other people. I was once told by a therapist friend that character is what you do when no one else is looking. I strive to be that self all the time... Strive yes, always succeed... not yet :)
And it makes me consider how we act affects who we choose to be our friends, our lover, where we go to school, or where we work. If I like the way I act around someone, of course I'm more likely to spend more time with that person because it feels good. Is that selfish?

Permalink Reply by Mitch Lavender on December 30, 2011 at 11:54am I think that largely, the real self is not appropriate for all environments. At work for example, you may not be able to express your full opinion on politics, religion or whatever because it isn't politically correct. At church, you may not talk about the bender you went on because despite it being a funny story, it won't be well recieved in that forum.
So I agree with the original statement that we behave differently in different environments. What I do not agree with is that a change in behavior is a change in personality - I still think/feel the same. I'm just adapting to the environment. And failing to adapt is failing to survive.

Let me watch out for the empirical evidence in girls around me (besotted grin suits here)
