The 6S Social Network

What can YOU say in six sentences?

Hi Guys,

After receiving so many emails from you (and telepathically communicating with Kate, who seems to have an endless supply of super-powers), I thought it'd be a good idea to set up an "official" comments and suggestions page - a way to let everyone cut loose and voice their honest opinions about the main site, and of course our home here on the 6S Social Network.

What's working for you? What isn't? What features here on the Network do you love? Which can you live without? What would make this an even more enjoyable place to spend a little time?

Say whatever you like, whenever you like, and as often as you like - and say it HERE! On this page, in this thread! Feel free to bounce ideas off me, and each other. I'll be checking back often... and taking careful notes.

You guys rock. Thanks.

I'm with you here Dick. Compared to these other people, I am just a dreamer. Of course my work is in no way even comparable to some of the work here, but everyone is accepted whole heartedly, without reservation and unconditionally. I think you show stay. If you try to leave, I'll grab everyone here and we'll bearhug until you agree to stay!!!! LOL

OK.... I guess you are right. Positive reinforcement is a good thing. Wouldn't want to ruin that for anyone...

I get what you said... Use your own head... WOW I am starting to rhyme.

My random thoughts on this:

I personally thrive on positive reinforcement. I read some of the others and feel inspiration and recognize ways to improve my own writing. I self-adjust so to speak.

I don't feel qualified or entitled to criticize works that I have no interest in.

I think criticism opens a potential can of worms. How do you repair damage from discouragement of the indiscriminate word? Or misinterpretation?

It sometimes let's the wind out of sails to have several negative comments about something you created.

If a critique is what you crave, perhaps send a message to someone whose writing style you revere and ask them to share their thoughts privately.

Once, I pounced on someone because I didn't like something they wrote. Turns out I misunderstood. I apologized and wonder often of the impact of my words. I would hate for this place I enjoy to become something unpleasant for anyone. That is why I don't vote to "critique". I follow this very simple advice "If you can't say something nice then don't say anything at all". When there are no responses I think we can figure that out, too.

Thanks, Guys. I'll hang in, if I stray, lemme know. And Kate, it'll take a series to tellmy New York story, but if you all are interested in chapters, I'll get to work.
Thanks again--here we go!!

Hooray! Glad you're staying. How bout coming up with a photo or icon cause there are a lot of 6s's around here and you'll want to be distinct.

Hmm..how about this for the suggestion box, Rob?

What if there were an additional tab on the page top (like between the blog and chat tabs) where people can submit their blogs for critique? I think critique is good for the writer and the reader. Always helps to know what works and what doesn't. As long as people who submit their work for critique know their precious work is going to get chewed up and digested whether tasty or fishy (um, I don't like fish).

That way both worlds are happy on 6s- The Positive Reinenforcementers and The Need To Improvers. Might even get some Main 6s people over to the Community 6s - world peas abounds.

Just a penny for the piggy bank. I have a couple more pennies, but I can't remember where I put my change purse, probably with my glasses. When I remember, I'll be sure to let you know.
