What can YOU say in six sentences?

This year will be my first participating in National Novel Writing Month (nanowrimo.org), the month of November seems to be speeding towards me as I try and think of possible plots, characters, and where I'll have the time to write 50,000 words...

I was simply wondering if anyone else was participating? Maybe we could keep up on each others' word counts, discuss our experience, all that jazz.

Or, what's your experience been with it in the past? Have you never heard of it? Have friends that have pariticipated? I honestly am not sure how big it really is...

I've heard mostly positive things about it, and I've made the commitment to do it this year....even though I'm way behind on completing a spec script that's overdue, fighting through some additional revisions to an earlier manuscript, knee-deep in shorts that need to be submitted, etc. And being a little bit of a perfectionist (some times I feel like the Ernest and Julio Gallo of editing..."I will submit no manuscript before it's time"), I worry about my ability to let fly with 50K in 30 days....... But challenges are a good thing....just need to fuel up on caffeine.

Amen to the caffeine.

Oooh yeah, caffeine will be a for sure. :) Should be fun, though I think. I'm a bit of a perfectionist as well so... we'll see how this treats us!

I'm doing it for the first time, too. My brother challenged me. I generally write between 10-15,000 words a week, but it will definitely be tricky with a four month old at home!

I signed up and am not apprehensive about doing it! I have an idea of what I will be writing about - but like many I edit as I go. A few pages and then re-read and edit rinse and repeat. I know I want to participate - so my plan is to write every day and leave editing until December as the site suggested. I will stay at the office so I wont be distracted by the kids and the family stuff and complete so many words a day -

I wish everyone who is participating the best! Hold onto your sanity!

I've done it before, but decided I wasn't crazy enough...I mean...I was too busy to get involved this year. :) It was an intense month of writing, but a great experience overall.

Best of luck to everyone getting ready! Keep in touch about progress, pitfalls, joys and journeys!

I have registered myself and have started writing my novel although I'm already behind on my quota!
Maybe it wasn't such a good idea to start this in the middle of my final exams...
Oh well!
I'm seriously excited though, so I'll see all you mob on the field of our words!
:P

I am certainly behind my own quota, had to start a couple days late! However, I am pressing forward and we'll see where this leads me!

Please, feel free to post your updates or add me on the NaNo website so we can compare word counts and all that... sammillama is my username there.

So Sammi, how goes the word count?

I'm on target so far, but feeling a bit tired. The first two weeks wereeasy, now it's like I'm plodding through quicksand.

Gotta get some caffeine... peace, Linda

Good to hear, Linda!

I'm a few thousand words behind, actually.. :( I need to get my butt in gear. I feel the quicksand, although it sounds like you're moving whereas I'm just sinking at the moment.

Caffeine for me as well!
